Upcoming Maintenance - All Apps, Databases, and Bastion Instances
Over the coming weeks, Aptible will be rolling out a number of platform upgrades. To apply these updates, Aptible's SRE team will be:
* Restarting all Apps and Databases * Replacing the Bastion instance(s) for each Stack
As part of the changes, we will begin using new generation of hardware for "general purpose" containers, which will be announced in our Changelog shortly. During the maintenance, any existing general purpose containers will be upgraded automatically without any action required by customers.
The maintenance windows are as follows:
Shared Stacks will all be upgraded on October 7th, between 10:00PM and 2:00AM EST.
Dedicated stacks will each be scheduled individually over the following 2 weeks. Customers with multiple Dedicated Stacks may have a different upgrade window for each stack, and will receive one email per Stack. Please read your emails carefully.
Note: Customers will be given a grace period to complete their Dedicated Stack maintenance on their own for critical Apps and Databases during a 7 day period preceding the Stack's scheduled maintenance time. Any Apps or Databases which customers have already restarted during the grace period will not be restarted again.
New Aptible CLI Commands
We have added two new Aptible CLI commands to further simplify the process of ensuring the required App and Database restarts are complete: aptible maintenance:apps and aptible maintenance:dbs. These commands list Apps and Databases which are required to be restarted to complete any outstanding maintenance, and allow customers to track which resources will be restarted by Aptible's SRE time at the indicated maintenance window.
Future Updates - Terraform & general purpose container profiles
We will also be releasing a new version of our Terraform provider shortly, which will include support for the new instance class. Be prepared to update the Aptible provider, and any configuration files that specify “m4" for the container_profile. We will notify you as this change is rolled out.
